Description
Antique Victorian Edwardian 18ct 18K Gold filigree hand made filigree Saint Fabiola porcelain brooch.
This is a portrait of a 1885 painting by Jean-Jacques Henner.
Henner's most widely known work is his 1885 painting of Saint Fabiola.
Size: 5cm or 2" (height) x 5.5cm or 2.2" (width) x 3mm (depth).
Size of porcelain centrepiece: 3.5cm (h) x 4.5cm (w) x 3mm (d).
Hallmarked C18 but I was told by the auctioneer it could be 20ct Gold. There is also a Crown hallmark on the pin. I purchased this brooch from a deceased estate auction in Malta many years ago.
It is in excellent condition. Weight: 15.7 grams.
Fabiola was a nurse and Roman matron of rank of the company of noble Roman women who, under the influence of the Church father Jerome, gave up all earthly pleasures and devoted themselves to the practice of Christian asceticism and charitable work.
