Caring for your jewellery tips.
We are confident you will love your new jewellery and hope that it brings you much pleasure and enjoyment. The designs are so beautiful that they in themselves are conversation starters.
All our jewellery has been crafted with fine materials, and if cared for thoughtfully, can become a treasured piece. To maintain its beauty and wearability, each piece of Jewellery should be cared for using the following simple guidelines:
Keep it Clean.
Caring for your jewellery if the item is worn often, or worn against the skin, is imperative.
It may be necessary to clean your Jewellery with a soft cleaning cloth or a professional precious metal cleaning product such as Hagerty.
Never use strong detergents, ammonia or alcohol to clean your jewellery.
Do not immerse any jewellery items with stones or pearls in water.
To Protect.
Always put on jewellery after perfume or hairspray is applied and has dried thoroughly.
Do not wear jewellery when swimming in chlorinated or salt water, or when showering.
Remove your jewellery when you retire to bed, do not sleep with it on.
Storage Solutions.
Individual items of jewellery need to be stored separately in a soft wrap or its pouch or bag to prevent it being scratched by other items.
Specific care instructions
GOLD and STERLING SILVER
Salty air, water, sunlight, humidity and many chemicals can rapidly speed up this process of jewellery tarnishing, so keep your jewellery dry and away from chemicals and cleaning products.
From time to time just use a cleaning cloth to bring back the sheen and sparkle of your jewellery.
SWAROVSKI CRYSTAL and CUBIC ZIRCONIA
Caring for your jewellery is worthwhile when it comes to keeping your crystal sparkly.
Excessive water, light and chemicals can alter the colour and appearance of stones.
When not in use, keep stones in a dark dry place.
To clean stones, wipe over with soft, slightly moist cloth whilst avoiding too much moisture and then dry them thoroughly.
ENAMEL
Avoid contact with hard surfaces as enamel can chip or crack if reasonable force is applied.
Enamel is affected by UV light, which can cause discolouration, so when not in use store in a dark, dry place. Enamel can be wiped with a soft, slightly moist cloth (avoid too much moisture), then dry enamel thoroughly.
GOLD FILLED
Caring for your jewellery is important with gold filled items.
Gold filled jewellery is created by applying gold over a base metal such as brass, rhodium, copper or Sterling Silver (Vermeil).
The gold content in Gold Filled jewellery must be at least 5% Gold by weight of the total piece, any less and the item is referred to as gold plated, not Gold Filled.
To maintain the beauty of your Jewellery please avoid salt water, chlorine and heavy detergents or cleaning agents.
Many chemicals in marketed jewellery cleaners are abrasive and corrosive which can cause damage or colour alter your jewellery.
Always put on jewellery after perfume or hairspray is applied and has dried thoroughly.
Remove your jewellery when you retire to bed, do not sleep with it on.
Follow this simple rule: last on in the morning, first off at night.
